As a Kindergartner, I never thought I would become a Kindergarten Teacher myself! |
My name is Kerri Willmann and I am a Kindergarten teacher in the state of Georgia. I am married to my wonderful husband Andrew and we are blessed with two beautiful little boys, Nathan and Jacob. I have been an educator for the past eight years and continue to look back at all of the paths that have led me to where I am today.
My beautiful and loving family! |
I was born in raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I had a very blessed childhood being raised
by my loving parents, my grandmother, and a sister that is ten years older than
I. At the age of seven, I began my
career as a fast-pitch softball player.
This was the highlight of my childhood, in which play and relationships
helped to shape my development and mold me into the person that I have become
today. Pitching was my passion, an art
that I practiced every day for fourteen years.
I worked with pitching coaches, attended many clinics, and practiced
with my father day in and day out. This
sport taught me the importance of team work, dedication, and friendship. It also lead me to my college career through
means of an athletic scholarship.
Softball taught me discipline, team work, and goal achieving! |
After graduating from Kempsville High School in the year
2001, I moved down to the state of Georgia on a softball scholarship to the Savannah
College of Art and Design. Along with
playing softball, I obtained my Bachelors of the Fine Arts Degree in 3D
animation. This is also the time in
which I met my husband Andrew. After my
husband and I were married, I then obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Early
Childhood Education. Becoming an early
childhood educator was the best of both worlds; I was able to incorporate my
love for the arts within my lessons.
After a few years of teaching, I then obtained my Master’s Degree in
Special Education from Grand Canyon University.
Although very serious about my career and my education, I still have a light hearted, goofy side! |
I am now currently obtaining my Doctoral degree in Early
Childhood Education at Walden University.
This is an important step within my career as an educator as I work toward
becoming an expert within my field. This
program will present many challenges as I continue forward, but as I keep the
end goal in mind, I know I will achieve it and become an advocate for social
change within my community. It is my goal to continue my education in order to
give to my community. I learn so much
from my little kindergarteners each year, it is my hope that as I continue my
education, that I can give back to them and touch their hearts the way that
they all have touched mine.
